We got tired of being lied to
Walk into any hardware store in May and you'll find a wall of mosquito products that don't work: ultrasonic gadgets, citronella everything, zappers that mostly kill moths. The stuff that does work — fogging, misting, barrier spray — usually works by poisoning the whole yard, pollinators and predators included. We built SkeeterSwitch because there was a gap between "doesn't work" and "nukes the ecosystem," and a CO₂ + heat trap fits right in it: it targets the mosquitoes that hunt you and leaves the rest of the yard alone.
Every claim gets checked
We don't ship a sentence about mosquito biology that the published research doesn't support. If a claim isn't backed by the literature, it doesn't go on the site — "100% mosquito-free" is a lie, and "far fewer landing on you, in peer-reviewed field trials" is the truth, so that's what we say. The biology on this site is written and researched by the SkeeterSwitch team against peer-reviewed entomology and public-health literature — how CO₂, body heat, and skin odor combine into the "host plume" that female mosquitoes track, and the ecosystem cost of broadcast insecticides. Our standing rule: attract-and-kill (what our trap does) is not the same as broadcast spray (what fogging does), and we're careful never to blur the two. Every claim links to the primary source behind it, so you can check the research yourself.
