Quick answer
SkeeterSwitch collects the account, device, and location data needed to run your trap and bill your service — and nothing we don't use. We don't sell your data, our site analytics are cookieless, and you can ask us to export or delete your information. This page explains what we collect, why, and how to reach us.

Who we are
SkeeterSwitch ("we," "us") provides a smart plug and cloud service that automates a CO₂ mosquito trap. This policy covers the SkeeterSwitch website, account portal, and connected-device service. The operator of this service is SkeeterSwitch LLC, a Virginia limited liability company.
What we collect
- Account information — your name, email, phone number, and password, so we can create and secure your account.
- Device & usage data — your trap's run history, CO₂ tank status, smart-plug state, and firmware/connection diagnostics, so the service can schedule the trap and warn you before a tank runs dry.
- Location data — the approximate location of your trap (from the address or ZIP you provide), used to pull local weather and mosquito-activity windows that drive the run schedule. [VERIFY precision: ZIP-level vs precise GPS — Kevin/Jayne.]
- Payment information — handled by our payment processor; we don't store full card numbers on our servers. [VERIFY processor (e.g. Stripe) and exactly what is retained — Kevin.]
- Support communications — messages you send us and the SMS verification used to activate a device.
How we use it
- To run and improve the trap-automation service and notify you about tank levels and device health.
- To create your account, verify it's you, and provide customer support.
- To process orders and subscription billing.
- To keep the service secure and detect abuse.
Cookies & analytics
Our marketing site uses Plausible, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool that does not track you across sites or build an advertising profile. The account portal uses only the cookies required to keep you signed in. [VERIFY final analytics + any essential cookies once Plausible is wired — Wash/Kevin.]
How we share it
We don't sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run SkeeterSwitch — hosting, the device cloud, the payment processor, SMS delivery, and weather data — and only as needed to provide the service, or where the law requires it. [VERIFY full sub-processor list — Kevin/counsel.]
Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active, then for a limited period afterward as required for legal, tax, and security purposes. [VERIFY specific retention periods — Kevin/counsel.]
Your choices & rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and close your account, by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. [VERIFY which regimes apply and the request workflow — Kevin/counsel.]
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Children
SkeeterSwitch is not directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under [VERIFY age threshold — Kevin/counsel].
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Material changes will be communicated through the service.
